A quick note to say good luck to all of our students returning to school.
Being a martial artist is not just about kicking and punching, but becoming a more well-rounded person.
Without an education, you can never be a true martial artist.

REMINDERS
A few reminders to everyone...
1. Be prepared for Instructors Bill & Trish to confirm times for the upcoming belt tests on Thurs, August 26th and Fri, August 27th. Please pay attention and do NOT be late for your test
2. If the test schedule conflicts with previous plans, you MUST let the instructors know ahead of time.
3. Sign ups for the tournament are due by Friday, August 20th.
4. If you're testing, make sure you are in FULL UNIFORM.
5. During this season, students are allowed to wear their Dragon Gym T-shirts to substitute for the uniform top. This does not entitle students to wear any Non-Dragon Gym t-shirt they wish. Remember good etiquette: if for any reason you cannot train in a Dragon Gym uniform or Dragon Gym shirt, you MUST ask for permission to enter class. This includes forgetting your belt.

TOURNAMENT DETAILS
Details about the upcoming tournament on Saturday, August 28th...
Check in begins at 8:30am, with the tournament starting at 10:00am
This will be an in-house tournament (DG students only), with youth and adult divisions. Students are encouraged to participate in one, multiple, or all events.
SIGN UPS BEGIN THIS WEEK, WITH THE CUTOFF DATE BEING FRIDAY, AUGUST 20TH
Students receiving their next rank from the upcoming test will be asked to demonstrate their previously learned curriculum. In other words: You won't be expected to do a green belt poomsae if you've just received that rank.
Events include...
* Breaking
* Poomsae (white belts may do hand weapon skills)
* Weapons
* Sparring
COST: $30 FLAT FEE FOR 1 TO ALL EVENTS.
For those sparring: Please remember to have your gear ready or borrow a friend's set beforehand, if necessary. Do not ask to borrow a set on the day of the tournament, as this will certainly slow down our schedule.
In-house tournaments are a wonderful way to become introduced to outside martial arts competitions. Students should take advantage of the fact they will be participating in fair divisions against their own classmates, led by their own instructors.
Please make sure to fill out sign up sheets accurately by Friday, August 20th. This will ensure that instructors are able to create the fairest divisions possible.
ALSO: ADULTS (INCLUDING STUDENTS) ARE NEEDED FOR TASKS SUCH AS ORGANIZATION OF STUDENTS, MEDAL RUNNERS, SCORE KEEPING, AND JUDGING
